Leave the Engine Running When Overheating

February 2nd, 2008 by Brian Yalung in Do it Yourself

nullSome people may have noticed this already but just for the sake of informing the new owners of Toyota vehicles, do remember that when your gauge suddenly reaches red, just leave the motor running when you are planning to put water in it.

Often, people mistake that they need to cut off the engine and then put water in the radiator. It does not necessarily follow. Remember that once you turn the engine off, the dried up radiator may become a problem since it can go as far as affecting your engine. Start it up or better yet, try to put water on the reservoir. Once the temperature settles, turn it off, leave it to cool and then put water once again.
