The 1NZ-FXE

The 1NZ-FXE internal combustion engine (ICE) using the more efficient Atkinson cycle instead of the usual Otto cycle. Normally, the gasoline engine shuts off during road stops because the accessories and even the air conditioning are powered by a battery pack. The engine is used both to power the vehicle as well as to recharge the batteries. Because of the additional power from the electric motors for hasty acceleration, the engine is one size smaller than usual for increased fuel drive and lowered emission but nevertheless an acceptable speed.
The Prius is a fuel efficient car. In the United States, it topped the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) test results.
